The Wheel of the Year – One Down

Credit where credit is due… the above photo is from the Tosohatchee Wildlife Management Area between Orlando and the Space Coast. A 1,000 acres of old growth flood plain swamp. A whole lot of old growth and very few people and no cell service. Be prudent.

Tonight I celebrated Imbolc; for the second time. The Wheel of the Year was an experiment when I started last February. I am very happy with the structure the Wheel has brought to my recovery – a reason to purposely celebrate the world, be thankful for the past six weeks, and prepare to celebrate the next six weeks. Celebration and mindful thanksgiving are not natural to me. But I am better for the structure.

I have enjoyed being able to take advantage of my location to see shows that would not be available at home. The photos below are not easily placed, but: Hades Town and Hamilton in Tampa, and Wicked in Orlando. Wicked was fun. Hamilton was moving. Hades Town was my favorite.

Just in the category of, “The things you see…” Taco’s over the gym in Altamonte Springs, and a pet pig at the RV show in Tampa?

I pulled t-shirts of Janelle’s, and of mine, that spanned some of our special times. Music, Travel, Basketball, Food, the Common Ground Fair. Jessica found me Stitches by Stiles to make a quilt.

I can’t say enough good things about the design work, the artistic quality, and the attention to detail and workmanship. I was reluctant to risk the shirts and I am so glad that I did!

Finally, music. I’ve listened to almost no music; and it had been so important. I think going to musicals helped. And I think recently realizing how little I was listening, brought some attention. Tonight, with my candle, my wine, and my macaroons, I queued up Guy Clark on shuffle. A little rocky. but such great music! Perhaps breaking of an ice jam. One hopes!
