I’ve been to… Bangor, Waterville…

Day one is in the books. Left Bangor a little later than planned. But I left.

Taking Bangor as the first song-city to check off the list. The actual first song-city stop was Waterville. I’d never been to Holy Cannoli, so stopped there to buy a gift for tonight’s hosts. Delicious. I do think I need to work on my squint/smile if I’m planning to take more photos.

Holed up outside of Portland for Thursday night. Jon and Lisa made me grilled salmon, sesame noodles, and brussel sprouts for dinner. Cannolis for dessert. Good food, good conversation, and John Hiatt for tunes. Friday morning is breakfast with Rebecca and Wendy.

Holy Cannoli

I don’t know if this will become a regular feature but it is today. Janelle and I amassed a sizable music collection in our time together. I’m not a fan of “renting” my music. The CD’s are stacked at home. It has been difficult listening to “our” music, but I stuffed all 8,000+ songs onto my phone last week and gave Shuffle a try today. This is the pick of the drive Bangor to Portland. Gotta be the version from Slipstream.

    1. An informal process. I’m avoiding spots that have strong memories with Janelle. Not yet ready for that. Paul Bunyan seemed iconic for Bangor. I’ve wanted to try Holy Cannoli for some time – who doesn’t like cannolis. Portland is hard. We spent a lot of time here. I’ve kind of hunkered down to do some school work. I’ll have a host in Providence so I’ll follow her lead. In Boston I’m thinking the Gardner museum and then random. After that? Day by day as I enter terra incognita.

  1. I love the Gardner Museum – extremely quirky and lots of gruesome medieval art! Also site of the largest modern art theft (there’s a fabulous doc on that – Stolen). The only downside is it can get pretty crowded, but maybe less so with COVID still about.
