I’ve been to… Nashville…

Listening to the radio this morning… on came Zac Brown, Country Fried. And I smiled thinking how much Janelle loved that song. Of course that all came crashing down when my head realized what my heart had done. But I got a glimmer that maybe, someday, I can mostly smile. I’ll take that.

I was required to visit the Parthenon in Nashville by a relative. Not sure what to think. But I don’t think this means I don’t need to go to Greece. Make America Greek Again?

I spent the afternoon in downtown Nashville. Quite amazing the amount of talent in a bunch of 2nd rate joints. I tipped a band to play Loretta Lynn’s Fist City. They’d never played it before. Spent two minutes on their phones listening to it and then did a very credible job playing it. I’ve come to the conclusion that there is a proletariat Nashville struggling to get ahead, and a bourgeoisie Nashville playing outside of the strip and mostly established. No masks on the strip. Masks and proof of vaccination at the bourgeoisie joints. For better or worse, I’m with the working class.

  1. Did you spend the $10 entrance fee and go inside the Parthenon? I have been to Greece and you still need to see the real Parthenon. But there is something hokey and charming about the one in Nashville. Glad you went.
