Third Leg – Chicago to Sebastian, Florida

Leaving Kate and Susan’s in Chicago early on the 26th. Bringing Brittany to the airport and then on to Davenport, Iowa, one of the song-cities. From Davenport, I plan to take Highway 61 along the Mississippi to Memphis. Then a jog back over to Nashville and down the Natchez Trace to Jackson and then Natchez. From there, I pick up a couple of more song-cities and then on to the Florida Pan Handle, the West Coast of Florida, and eventually over to Earl’s Hideaway in Sebastian on the East Coast. Timing in Florida is TBD.

More on the Natchez Trace…

I couldn’t settle on one song. One is Janelle; one is me. Bet you’ll have no trouble picking which is which.

  1. Two great songs you picked there! Always liked Johnny Cash. I had a chance to see him live about a year before he passed. Kicking myself that I didn’t ever get to see him.

I was in Memphis once — a stop on our Delta Queen with Arlo Guthrie trip (I’ll need to tell you about that trip one day) — don’t remember too much except the Duck March at the Peabody Hotel was something to see! Don’t know if they are still doing it during COVID, but something unique to see!

Have a great Christmas with Kate, Susan and Brittany and enjoy that trip South!

    1. I would like to see the ducks. Sadly the viewing, due to COVID, is now only open to guests. With a minimum two night stay at $300 a night. Plus taxes, fees, and parking. I don’t think the ducks will even realize that I’m not there. ;-] Never saw Johnny Cash either. Really appreciate your comments.

      1. I agree with your assessment — the Ducks will probably not miss your absence! Of course, you could just happen to be perusing the menu for the restaurant at Duck parade time….. just sayin’
