Saint John, New Brunswick (Canada)

Headed north to Canada today – me and Gargoyle. Good to have company. Getting on the ferry to Digby in the morning and then on to Halifax. Maybe a stop at Grand Pre Historic site. Hopefully I won’t require any detours due to the wild fires in Nova Scotia.

I’m afraid much of my St. John’s experience was food/alcohol based. Well, not afraid. It was delicious. Let’s say self conscious. Particularly about the cigarette ash flavored Scotch.

But the salt cod cakes and the pudding chomeur were also excellent. As was the conversation with bartenders and bar mates.

  1. Are you aware that your maternal great grandmother was born in St John New Brunswick and that a relative built or designed the suspension bridge there? Had I realized it, on the strength of that familial relationship, I could have emigrated, but by the time I had investigated, that window had closed.
