I was so, so pleased to stumble upon this mural in Winnemucca, Nevada. Not only is it a city in “I’ve Been Everywhere Man”, it is the first city mentioned in the lyric. And driving in to town, one certainly understands to reference to the “dusty Winnemucca road”.
Winnemucca to the Sea never turned into a real thing. But the proposed route mirrored how I came from Crescent City, CA to Winnemucca, NV.
Rt. US-199 to State Rt. 140 to US-95 into Winnemucca, with side trips to Crater Lake and Lava Beds.
And another city in the song. Can’t say I found much appealing in Reno.
